Softball Recap: Cactus Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cactus entered their tilt with Westview on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Knights 16-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 25-0 on Tuesday.

Riley Kilgore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Trinity Pichardo and Charley Enos did most of the damage at the plate: Pichardo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Enos went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Pichardo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Larsen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Cactus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Cactus now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Westview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Cactus will take on Estrella Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Westview, they will square off against Peoria at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Knights are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
