Baseball Recap: Brookwood Takes a Loss

Brookwood dropped down to 14-12 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 14, 2025.

Brookwood got a good showing from Davis Torri, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Torri has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Tuscaloosa Academy's side, HENRY SMITH spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Tuscaloosa Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was GRAHAM SIMS, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. HARMON SMITH was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Brookwood will venture away from home to face off against Paul W. Bryant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they will welcome Sipsey Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
