Recap: Sparrows Point Pointers vs. New Town
The Sparrows Point Pointers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 45-38 to New Town on Friday. Sparrows Point lost against the in their previous head to head back in January of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-19 score last time.
It was another big night for Nialah Mingo, who scored 22 points for New Town. Mingo is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played.
Sparrows Point's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for New Town, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Sparrows Point will take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Dulaney is ranked 51st, while the Pointers are ranked 74th). As for New Town, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bay Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
