Baseball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. R-S Central Hilltoppers

The McDowell Titans will head out on the road to square off against the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, McDowell got the win against Mountain Heritage by a conclusive 13-3. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Kaine Boone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boone was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Hayden Shelton tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Davis, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tryp Young, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

McDowell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, R-S Central waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 5-0.

R-S Central's record now sits at 3-1. As for McDowell, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
