Softball Recap: Union Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Union had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Walnut Wildcats with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Union got a big performance out of LaCee Bishop, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Maggie Atkinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Union has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Walnut, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-13 record.

Union will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
