Baseball Game Preview: Elverado Falcons vs. Pinckneyville Panthers

The Elverado Falcons will challenge the Pinckneyville Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pinckneyville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Elverado, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Elverado turned things around against Shawnee on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Redskins by a score of 6-2.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pinckneyville and Anna-Jonesboro meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Pinckneyville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolton Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Smith's first of the season.

Pinckneyville dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Elverado, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.

Elverado suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Pinckneyville when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
