Soccer Recap: Make It Three in a Row for IDEA Montopolis

IDEA Montopolis waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the KIPP Austin Brave Eagles as they made off with a 7-0 win. Given IDEA Montopolis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while KIPP Austin Brave is ranked 712th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

IDEA Montopolis' offense was hitting KIPP Austin Brave from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Luis Barrientos led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

IDEA Montopolis' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for KIPP Austin Brave, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Montopolis will venture away from home to face off against IDEA Kyle at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. IDEA Montopolis will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last. As for KIPP Austin Brave, they will head out to challenge IDEA Bluff Springs at 10:30 a.m. on February 22nd.
