Basketball Game Preview: Montrose Red Hawks vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers

The Montrose Red Hawks will take on the Wheat Ridge Farmers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Montrose's tournament run continued when they took on Eagle Valley on Saturday. The Red Hawks took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Devils. The loss put an end to the Red Hawks' undefeated start to the season.

Montrose's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lane Pressler, who went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Pressler is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was CJ Rocco, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge's game on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They were the clear victors by a 51-30 margin over Lakewood. The Farmers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The win got Wheat Ridge back to even at 1-1. As for Montrose, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Montrose took their victory against Wheat Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 64-40 score. Do the Red Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Farmers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
