Basketball Recap: Walnut Street Christian vs. Columbia County Christian
Walnut Street Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 72-39 loss at the hands of Columbia County Christian. Walnut Street Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbia County Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pierce Cughan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. That's the most boards Cughan has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Lenker, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 21 points and three steals.
Columbia County Christian's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut Street Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Meadowbrook Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Columbia County Christian and Northumberland Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
