Pelham came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Saraland, but Taniyah Smith wouldn't allow it. The Spartans skirted past the Panthers 2-1 thanks in part to Smith, who had 12 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having also posted 13 or more assists the last seven times she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Saraland and bumps their season record up to 27-4. As for Pelham, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 13-22.

Coincidentally, Saraland and Pelham will both be playing Spanish Fort the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Toros at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
