Baseball Recap: Mainland Takes a Loss

While it was Mainland who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Taylor who put up more. The Buccaneers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. The Buccaneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 9-8.

Trevor Pittman led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Mainland is 4-1 when Pittman posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Helmut Waters also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mainland's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Taylor, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Coming up, Mainland will host University at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Taylor, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Mary Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
