Basketball Recap: iMater Charter Takes a Loss

IMater Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators, falling 75-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-39 on January 8th.

Hialeah Gardens found their leader in sophomore Robert Masis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Masis is becoming a predictor of Hialeah Gardens' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 3-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Ray Hernandez Jr was another key player, putting up four points along with 11 rebounds and seven assists.

IMater Charter's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Hialeah Gardens, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IMater Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pinecrest North Preparatory at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hialeah Gardens, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Mater Academy Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Academy Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
