Basketball Game Preview: Douglass Trojans vs. Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish

The Douglass Trojans will challenge the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Douglass is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Douglass is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over Ada. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Cougars are ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They skirted past the Warriors 35-33. The 35-point effort marked the Fighting Irish's lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Douglass better keep an eye on Hudson Mccormick. He was instrumental in Bishop McGuinness' win, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Bradley, who posted seven points.

Douglass pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Bishop McGuinness, their record now sits at 20-9.

Douglass came up short against Bishop McGuinness when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 67-56. Can Douglass avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
