Mater Dei had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bishop Gorman Gaels. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Monarchs have posted since September 20th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mater Dei got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 15-25, 15-9.

Their offense was headlined by Shewa Adefemiwa and Layli Ostovar, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Kalea Lee and her 13 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lizzy Robinson, each putting up two.

Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Bishop Gorman, their defeat ended a 14-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 23-7.

Mater Dei didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Marymount on the 27th. As for Bishop Gorman, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Sunrise Mountain on the 27th.
