Football Recap: Cooper Takes a Loss

Cooper lost against Wylie back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars took a 29-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The matchup was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Cooper lost, don't look at Jaden Carrillo. Despite the final result, he rushed for 123 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 86 yards and one touchdown. Carrillo was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Peyton Ewing was another key player, rushing for 98 yards on only 12 carries.

Cooper's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Wylie, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cooper is set to face off against their familiar foe Lubbock-Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wylie will challenge rival Palo Duro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
