Baseball Recap: Sebastian River Gets the Win

After losing to Melbourne Central Catholic the last time they met, Sebastian River decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sharks walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Hustlers on Thursday. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Sharks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Peyton Landers was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Jake Cavill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Sebastian River and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Sebastian River will be playing at home against Bayside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Cocoa Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
