Football Recap: Arlington Lions vs. Rancho Christian Eagles
Arlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 40-31 to the Rancho Christian Eagles.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Gonzalez, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Gonzalez also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending a pass. Lincoln Liggins was another key pass catcher, picking up 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Rancho Christian had a senior duo take command as Emiliano Villarreal threw for 349 yards and five touchdowns and Kamryn Jones picked up 270 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Villarreal is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Rancho Christian also got a significant boost from Will Ford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.
Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Rancho Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arlington will welcome Hemet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hemet knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Arlington likes a good challenge. As for Rancho Christian, they will challenge Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Rancho Christian will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
