Softball Recap: Hanks Comes Up Short

Hanks was the 12-0 winner over El Dorado when they last played one another back in April of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hanks came up short against El Dorado on Saturday, falling 16-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Aztecs since March 1, 2016.

Amberly Mercado was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Audrey Melendez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Hanks is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9-1. As for El Dorado, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hanks will challenge rival Americas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, El Dorado is set to take on their familiar foe Del Valle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Dorado 3.8, Del Valle 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
