Baseball Recap: Williamsburg Comes Up Short

Williamsburg had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-8 to make it four. They lost 21-1 to the Whitley County Colonels. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 30, 2025, but that streak is no more.

As for Whitley County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

For Whitley County's part, Eli Powers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Powers has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamsburg will head out to take on Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitley County, they will venture away from home to square off against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colonels 1.8, the Warriors 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
