Basketball Recap: Carrboro Jaguars vs. Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves
Carrboro kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves by a score of 54-52. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Red Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the loss, Carrboro still got an impressive performance from Bakari Watkins, who went 10 for 16 en route to 26 points plus eight rebounds. Sam Kanjorski was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 14 points plus two steals.
Cedar Ridge was led to victory by Jordan Jacobson and Lucas Orstad. Jacobson went 5 for 10 en route to 20 points plus two steals, while Orstad scored 16 points plus six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Wilbourn, who earned eight points in addition to ten rebounds and two steals.
Carrboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-63 victory against Seaforth on the 22nd. Cedar Ridge has also already played their next matchup, a 78-39 defeat against Chapel Hill on the 19th.
