With a mother who works for the FBI and a father who is an agent for the DEA, one could only expect
Wade Baldwin to be an intelligent and observant young man.

Both characteristics are beneficial to a point guard, and have helped Baldwin become the versatile 6-foot-3, 180-pound floor general he is today for the
St. Joseph (Metuchen, N.J.) Falcons.
Baldwin played his first two years at
Immaculata (Somerville, N.J.), averaging 17.6 points per game as a sophomore. Before his junior year, Baldwin transferred to St. Joseph and teamed up with talented teammates like
Marques Townes,
Karl Towns and
Raven Owen to lead the program to the Tournament of Champions title game, a 27-5 record and the Non-Public A championship.
Baldwin averaged 16.1 points per game and was selected to the
All-State Third Team by The Star-Ledger.
Before the 2013-14 season began, Baldwin accepted a scholarship to
Vanderbilt after narrowing his list of over 30 offers down to Pitt, Minnesota, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt.
Speaking of 30, Baldwin and his Falcon teammates were the first Middlesex County team to ever win 30 games in a season. Other Middlesex County firsts included winning a Tournament of Champions title and winning five Middlesex County/GMC Tournament titles in a row.
Finishing 26-0 vs. New Jersey competition and going 30-2 this year with St. Joseph, Baldwin has compiled a record of 57-7 the past two seasons. A four-year starter, the Montgomery native finished his career with 1,727 points and 104 3-pointers after averaging 15 points, 7.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game during the 2013-14 season.
The
No. 124 overall recruit according to
247sports, Baldwin was named the Star-Ledger's Middlesex County Player of the Year and selected
Second Team All-State by the Star-Ledger for 2013-14.
The next big day on Baldwin's calendar — graduation — is May 22.
