Basketball Game Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Brawley Wildcats

Holtville hasn't had much luck against Brawley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Holtville Vikings will face off against the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 a.m.

On Friday, Holtville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-46 to Palo Verde Valley.

Meanwhile, Brawley came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 61-38 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Eagles are ranked 1235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brawley is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Holtville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Holtville was dealt a bruising 79-52 loss at the hands of Brawley in their previous meeting last Friday. Can Holtville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
