Basketball Game Preview: Plano Reapers vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs

Plano hasn't had much luck against Genoa-Kingston recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Plano Reapers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Genoa-Kingston Cogs at 7:00 p.m. Plano is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Plano came up short against Johnsburg and fell 46-39. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Reapers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Skyhawks are ranked 270th).

The losing side was boosted by Josie Larson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Young, who posted eight points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Plano smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 40 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Genoa-Kingston strolled past Indian Creek with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 66-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cogs.

Plano's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-4. As for Genoa-Kingston, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.

Plano couldn't quite finish off Genoa-Kingston in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 44-42. Can Plano avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
