Mishawaka Marian snaps seven-game streak of losses at home

The Mishawaka Marian Knights had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 37-33 victory over South Bend Clay on Wednesday. The victory was just what Mishawaka Marian needed coming off of a 61-10 loss in their prior match.

South Bend Clay lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maliya Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of South Bend Clay's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyrece Cunningham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

South Bend Clay struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Mishawaka Marian's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16. As for South Bend Clay, they bumped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Mishawaka Marian will square off against Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Bend Clay, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Bend Riley at 7:30 p.m. South Bend Riley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
