Basketball Recap: TERRA Environmental's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

TERRA Environmental won the last time they faced Mourning and things went their way on Thursday too. TERRA Environmental came out on top against the Mourning Sharks by a score of 74-63. Given TERRA Environmental's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Mourning is ranked 647th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

TERRA Environmental had a senior duo take command as Nick Merlo dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds and Mateo Baron dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Merlo's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Raul Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

TERRA Environmental smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

TERRA Environmental is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Mourning, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

TERRA Environmental will take on Coral Shores at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mourning, they and Westland Hialeah will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
