Preview: Center Hill Mustangs vs. South Panola Tigers
The Center Hill Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the South Panola Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Even though Lake Cormorant scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Center Hill still came out on top. Center Hill snuck past the with a 67-61 win.
Center Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jairya Rankins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Rankins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Hughes, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, South Panola stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 70-25 victory over Grenada.
Center Hill is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for South Panola, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Center Hill, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-40 loss to the Tigers when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Center Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
