Basketball Recap: Cooper Takes a Loss

Cooper was the 61-42 winner over Midland Legacy when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Cooper Cougars fell 55-45 to the Midland Legacy Rebels on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Rebels are ranked 277th).

Cooper has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Midland Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Cooper will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Levelland at 1:00 p.m. on December 31st. Levelland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Midland Legacy, they and Buena Vista will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
