Football Recap: Discovery Christian Comes Up Short

Discovery Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Salem Wildcats and fell 40-6.

Salem's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamyen Watler led the charge by rushing for 60 yards and one score.all of that, rushing production came thanks to one massive run The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Riley, who picked up 103 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Discovery Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Salem, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Discovery Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Centreville Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
