Softball Game Preview: Crater Comets vs. Springfield Millers

For the second straight game, Crater will face off against Springfield. The Comets will face off against the Millers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Crater was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Springfield on Tuesday. The Comets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Millers a 15-0 shutout. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Ady Thayer was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ally Nottingham was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Crater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .955. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Crater is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Springfield, they are on a 38-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.
