The Simi Valley Pioneers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 27-20 to Bishop Diego. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Simi Valley in their matchups with Bishop Diego: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Simi Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brice Hawkins. Despite the final result, he rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards.
Leading Bishop Diego to victory were Tua Rojas and Oscar Mauia. Rojas threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns, while Mauia rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Mauia was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.
Simi Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Bishop Diego, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
