Softball Recap: Merrill Bluejays vs. Pacelli Cardinals
Merrill extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 6-9. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pacelli Cardinals. The Bluejays were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Maddie Barker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacey Lyon, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
As for Pacelli, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
On Pacelli's side, Haylee Cisewski was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Cisewski has launched this season.
Looking ahead, Merrill will head out on the road to square off against Mosinee at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pacelli, they will be playing at home against Almond-Bancroft at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
