Football Game Preview: KIPP Collegiate phoenix vs. Memphis Central Warriors

The KIPP Collegiate phoenix will face off against the Memphis Central Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, KIPP Collegiate didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Booker T. Washington, but they still walked away with a 18-12 win. The phoenix haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kevin Garnett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 160 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Memphis Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Overton a 41-0 shutout on Friday. That 41 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

KIPP Collegiate better keep an eye on Andrus Farmer. He was instrumental in Memphis Central's win, picking up 49 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Robbie Patton did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 116 receiving yards.

The win got KIPP Collegiate back to even at 3-3. As for Memphis Central, their record now sits at 5-1.

KIPP Collegiate took a serious blow against Memphis Central in their previous meeting back in August of 2017, falling 43-6. Can the phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
