Recap: Shaw Raiders vs. Bainbridge Bearcats
It was a good run, but the Shaw Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 30-29 to Bainbridge. Shaw was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bainbridge apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Shaw lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tiara Tucker, who scored 18 points. Tucker scored a full 62.1% of Shaw's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tanajah Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Among those leading the charge was Jinasia Barnes, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Green, who scored seven points.
Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Bainbridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shaw and Chattahoochee County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Chattahoochee County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matchups. Bainbridge and Thomas County Central will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thomas County Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bainbridge in Georgia (Thomas County Central is ranked 47th, while Bainbridge is ranked 230th).
