Preview: Fletcher Senators vs. Fernandina Beach Pirates
The Fletcher Senators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fernandina Beach Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fletcher will be strutting in after a win while Fernandina Beach will be coming in after a loss.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Fletcher ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tocoi Creek and snuck past 65-63. With that win, Fletcher brought their scoring average up to 57 points per game.
Fletcher's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from McCarthy Crenshaw, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Kay, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Fernandina Beach was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Tuesday as they fell 48-43 to Bishop Snyder. Fernandina Beach has not had much luck with Bishop Snyder recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
Fletcher and Fernandina Beach were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2018, but Fletcher came up empty-handed after a 48-47 loss. Can Fletcher avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
