Baseball Recap: Garrett Railroaders vs. DeKalb Barons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Garrett was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the DeKalb Barons as the Garrett Railroaders made off with an 18-5 win. This was a revenge contest for Garrett, as the team was forced to settle for a 10-4 loss when these two played on Saturday.
Lucas Collins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Collins was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Grant Byers looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
Back at the plate, Aiden Orth was incredible, going 5-for-6 with a home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Kashen Kelham was another key contributor, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
On DeKalb's side, Aydan Parr was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.
The victory got Garrett back to even at 1-1. As for DeKalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garrett will take on Westview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garrett is facing Westview at the right time seeing as Westview is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for DeKalb, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
