Volleyball Recap: West Grand's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but West Grand unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-match winning streak on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plateau Valley Cowboys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14.

Lexi Taylor was the offensive standout of the match as she had four digs and three aces. What's more, she racked up 15 assists, the most she's had since back in August.

West Grand's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for Plateau Valley, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

West Grand and Plateau Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 120th) will meet Rangely (ranked 254th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Plateau Valley will square off against Hayden at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (88 vs. 294).
