Softball Recap: White County Central Triumphs

White County Central proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 15) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Maumelle Charter Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since March 7, 2025.

Hannah Blagg made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Caylee Gilchrist was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kyla Williams was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

White County Central's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Maumelle Charter, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Coming up, White County Central will head out on the road to challenge Quitman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maumelle Charter, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Wonderview at 4:00 p.m. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Daredevils have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
