Baseball Recap: Cesar Chavez Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Cesar Chavez's tournament run continued when they took on Gila Ridge on Friday. The Champions walked away with a 7-3 win over the Hawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Champions.

Aiden Lagunas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Lagunas was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cesar Valentin-Rochin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlos Leon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Cesar Chavez's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games. As for Gila Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Coincidentally, Cesar Chavez and Gila Ridge will both be playing Cathedral Prep the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Ramblers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Champions will play them later in the day, at 9:00 p.m.
