Basketball Recap: Ben King's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Winters Mill over Liberty

Winters Mill lost against Liberty two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Winters Mill Falcons took a 74-59 bruising from the Liberty Lions. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben King, who posted 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nat Curley, who earned 14 points.

Even though they lost, Winters Mill was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Winters Mill's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winters Mill will square off against South Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winters Mill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. As for Liberty, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Liberty Lions duke it out with the Pikesville Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
