Softball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Hampshire Whip-Purs

The Cary-Grove Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Hampshire Whip-Purs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Cary-Grove came up short against Prairie Ridge on Tuesday, falling 9-2. The Trojans have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Cary-Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison DeSomer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Hampshire hadn't done well against Huntley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Whip-Purs had just enough and edged out the Red Raiders 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Whip-Purs.

Cary-Grove's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Hampshire, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Cary-Grove couldn't quite get it done against Hampshire in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
