Recap: Moon Valley Rockets vs. Yuma Criminals
The Moon Valley Rockets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past Yuma with a 65-60 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Damion Miller-Coleman, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eddie Boone, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Yuma lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nick Amador, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Amador is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mosqueda, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
The win got Moon Valley back to even at 8-8. As for Yuma, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moon Valley and Thunderbird will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thunderbird will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Yuma, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenway comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
