Recap: Charlotte Orioles vs. Okemos Wolves

This season hasn't been kind to the Charlotte Orioles, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Okemos on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Charlotte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while Okemos is ranked 245th).

Despite the loss, Charlotte still got an impressive performance from Jaelyn Baker, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. Baker scored a full 53.2% of Charlotte's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Peyton Howarth was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Charlotte's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Okemos, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Charlotte will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sexton at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Sexton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Okemos will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mason at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
