Recap: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. Wilkes Central Eagles
There was early excitement for The Surry Central Golden Eagles after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was the Wilkes Central Eagles who ended up claiming the real prize. Surry Central received a tough blow as they fell 28-14 to Wilkes Central. Surry Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Surry Central still got an impressive performance from Allen Huffman, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Huffman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
Surry Central's defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Wilkes Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
