Basketball Game Preview: Belt Huskies vs. Box Elder Bears + How To Watch

The Belt Huskies and the Box Elder Bears will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Belt is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Chinook: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Huskies blew the Beeters out of the water with a 47-18 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Huskies had established a 21-point advantage.

Belt's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Gaylord, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Maren Keaster, who posted nine points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Box Elder took their matchup last Saturday with ease, bagging a 60-24 victory over Heart Butte. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Box Elder's win came from a few key players Belt will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Martay Stiffarm-Rosette, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Shareece Raining Bird, who put up five points in addition to ten steals and five assists.

Belt's record now sits at 2-0. As for Box Elder, their record is now an identical 2-0.

Belt couldn't quite finish off Box Elder when the teams last played back in February of 2021 and fell 46-44. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
