Scotland is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Union Pines is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fighting Scots will host the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scotland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Scotland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Latta, who was ranked 18th in their home state at the time (Scotland was ranked 11th). The Fighting Scots came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday.

Avery Stutts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marissa Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Blue, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Union Pines unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to West Stanly. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior), but the Colts' pitchers proved too tough.

Kileigh Cameron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Scotland, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.

Everything went Scotland's way against Union Pines in their previous meeting back in March, as Scotland made off with a 9-0 victory. Will the Fighting Scots repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
