Baseball Recap: Washington Latin Public Charter School Wins Going Away Against Field

Washington Latin Public Charter School came out on top against Field on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Lions put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Miles Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Washington Latin Public Charter School is 4-1-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Dean Rubin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, August Heim and Ben Blier did most of the damage at the plate: Heim went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Blier went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Heim a new career-high. Colt Gage-Adams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Washington Latin Public Charter School now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Field, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Washington Latin Public Charter School nor Field have any future games scheduled.
