Volleyball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mead

Mead took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Lyons-Decatur Northeast, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Cougars 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won four matchups in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mead got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 25-21.

Olivia Lee was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 15 digs and five aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four).

Lee wasn't the only good servers: Mead was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.

Mead's record now sits at 10-13. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Mead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on the 11th. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Brownell Talbot on the 11th.
