Softball Recap: Marion County Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Marion County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Boyle County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Marion County blew past Boyle County 13-5 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Gracyn Mattingly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Kendra Gaddie was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Marion County pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Boyle County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion County will challenge Central Hardin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boyle County, they will welcome West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
