Baseball Recap: Pomona Takes a Loss

Pomona dropped their record down to 4-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Dakota Ridge Eagles, falling 8-2. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

Brycen Hanners was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

As for Dakota Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Dakota Ridge's side, Matt Larmore made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Larmore was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breckin Maynes, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kellen Behrendsen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Pomona has already played their next contest, a 14-12 defeat against Standley Lake on the 17th. As for Dakota Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-4 win against Green Mountain on the 21st.
