Baseball Recap: Stevenson Patriots vs. Antioch Sequoits
Stevenson was the 6-2 winner over Antioch when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sequoits on Thursday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Stevenson got a good showing from Andrew Langerman, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, Langerman gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Stevenson saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Crawley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Jackson Merdalo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Stevenson now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Antioch, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stevenson will challenge Crystal Lake Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Antioch, they will square off against Hoffman Estates at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
